Welcome to the 2009-2010 Season
Dear Friends of Coastal Symphony,
“A village with no music is not one fit for life.”
African parable
For twenty-seven years the Coastal Symphony has enriched and inspired our community with live performances of symphonic music. In turn, the community has given its valued loyal support to the Symphony through gifts, attendance, and volunteer time so that the orchestra could grow and mature over those years.
Conductor Vernon L. Humbert will give the downbeat at the usual 8:00 pm hour for the February concert. The February 22, 2010 concert, American Soul, will showcase a narration by The Hon. Orion L. Douglass and the Community Chorus. The April 26, 2010, presentation, Ode to America, will feature orchestral tributes to the great America frontier.
Once again the Symphony Society, our hardworking volunteers, will present Cabaret, the Symphony’s annual benefit gala, February 6, 2010. There is no better way to help create strong community support for the Symphony and play a vital part in its success than by becoming a participant in the social fun and fundraising activities.
We are extremely proud of the growth of our Coastal Youth Orchestra. Our goal this year, of course, is to involve more community young people in the making of orchestral music. The second concert for the 2009-2010 Youth Orchestra season is May 2, 2010. This performance will be held in the Glynn Academy auditorium.
I look forward to welcoming you all to the 2009-2010 Coastal Symphony of Georgia season. The twenty-seventh season of the Coastal Symphony promises to be the most exciting one yet. Don’t miss it!
