About our Director:

Veron Humbert

Vernon Humbert earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Illinois. He began his symphonic career performing with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and has been a section cellist in Jacksonville, Florida, since 1981. Humbert enjoys performing chamber music, playing in summer chamber workshops, and has studied with musicians such as Manachem Pressler of the Beaux Artes Trio and Susan Salm of the Raphael Trio. In 2000, Humbert and two colleagues from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra founded Prelude Chamber Music, Inc., an organization that provides a two-week summer camp which teaches musicianship and teamwork through chamber music for middle and high school string students. The camp has been quite successful and has expanded to include coaching for adult amateur musicians as well.
